Topics: Rock, blues, celtic, bluegrass, jazz, and "electrifying" the string instrument. Students learn idiomatic rhythms, riffs, bowings, techniques, and (time permitting) the basics of improvisation in the selected genre. When possible, instructional materials are sent in advance. Rhythm instruments (guitar, piano and/or drums) are encouraged and can be easily arranged. Add a Concert: Participants are encouraged to give a concert in conjunction with the workshop. Featured soloists have included selected students, teachers, and the ViolinistExtremist, Ed Caner. Click here for an example of a one-day district-wide school program with concert.
